Wind was created as part of my Spirit Women Series. When I work with clay my interests are compelling surface imagery and firing techniques that compliment the form. I also strive to achieve a sense of movement.
I enjoy the process of mark making, especially using this technique. "Carbon-glazed" raku is created by drawing through slip. During reduction smoke enters through the drawn lines and etches permanently into the surface of the clay. The extra slip is then removed and the work is burnished. This piece was shown at an exhibition of fine craft at the Seattle Center. It was also featured on the show postcard.
